Recently, the 12th National Conference on Environmental Chemistry (12th NCEC) was held in Wuhan from 17-21 November 2023, hosted by the Environmental Chemistry Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
On 20 November 2023, Mr Wang Gang was invited to give a keynote speech entitled "Microhydrophysics and Interaction Processes in Microbial Perspective" under the topic of "Microbial-Mineral Interactions and Environmental Effects". The content of the presentation is divided into three parts: (1) the influence of soil moisture content on the propagation strategy of soil viruses in agricultural fields, and how soil moisture content and soil viruses jointly regulate the dynamics and content of soil organic carbon; (2) the influence of microscopic pore space characteristics as well as water and nutrient dynamics of different soil aggregates on the self-assembly mode and community structure characteristics of soil microbial communities; (3) the influence of microscopic water dynamics at the interface of complex environments on the micro-hydrophysical and interactions processes. (3) How microscopic water dynamics at the interface of complex environments and the microhydrophysical structure of fungal hyphae affect microbial community self-assembly and horizontal gene transfer (functional plasmids), and thus regulate the functional community structure and biodiversity of microorganisms.
